HMMM...SEEMS TO BE A POPULAR PHRASE THESE DAYS

In previous posts, Charleston Police Chief Rueben Greenberg has been criticized for using the phrase "SOB" in a recent news story.

Well, it seems to be a very popular phrase. I wonder if Congressman Jim Clyburn actually said the words instead of the shortened version and the newspaper covered for him by printing only the initials? And, I guess you could say he was calling himself an SOB, so technically it shouldn't be as big of a deal...still:

From The State newspaper in Columbia:

Clyburn endorsed Gephardt for the state’s first-in-the-South Democratic primary and will head to Michigan and Iowa this weekend to stump for the Missouri Democrat.
I would be one ungrateful SOB (emphasis added) if I didn’t recognize the importance of that help, not just to me, but to the whole state of South Carolina,” Clyburn said.
The national media has pegged the 63-year-old Clyburn as a kingmaker in the Feb. 3 primary, where African-Americans are expected to make up 40 to 50 percent of those voting. But some experts question his influence over black voters statewide.

And a different version in the Post and Courier:

U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina who drew a spotlight Wednesday as he said he was morally obligated to back Gephardt after 11 years of friendship and favors in Washington.
"I would be a real S.O.B. (emphasis added) if I were to ignore all the positive impact that Dick Gephardt has had on my congressional district and South Carolina," Clyburn said, adding "I've got to get people to understand where his heart is."

Again, I always thought they were referring to South Of Broad...
