Marshalltown: They still don't get it
Still yet to hear any indictment of the actual lawbreakers in the mess in Marshalltown. The media is really helping to play the victim card here...even the local Marshalltown press:
Church packed for town hall meeting
I have to say, Governor Vilsack did a pretty good job on Jon Stewart's Daily Show last night. But he has absolutely no chance of becoming President with this kind of stuff in response to the Marshalltown raids:
Talk about saying nothing by saying something...jeez, that's about as good as you might get out of a Clinton.
Of course you don't want your state officials debating the immigration policy of this country...because the last time you did, you wanted to give them drivers licenses and in-state tuition.
“When 9/11 came along, everyone remembered it,” said Isis Diaz, 14, and a freshman. “I think everyone will remember this.”
9/11, Iraq, Katrina...what's the difference...all victims are equal in the eyes of libs. What an absolute bunch of morons. Have they NO perspective whatsoever?

Local leader Sam Carbajal said the evening was important on many levels. Carbajal works as a Hispanic Outreach worker at Youth and Shelter Services in Marshalltown, the Marshalltown Community School District and many other groups within the community. They should be scared. Anytime you break the law, you should be scared of the consequences. What "reform" is needed? So they can feel less scared?
“Right now I’m hearing people saying ‘Thank you very much, I felt so alone,’” he said. “Still, there were some who were not arrested but are too scared to go back to work.
“I think this is showing a real need for reform in the immigration system. Building walls is not the answer, and we need to act right now. Right now.”
Carbajal expressed deep frustration with the system as a whole.
“We’re wasting our money. We desperately need wiser politicians to do wiser things,” he said.
I have to say, Governor Vilsack did a pretty good job on Jon Stewart's Daily Show last night. But he has absolutely no chance of becoming President with this kind of stuff in response to the Marshalltown raids:
Governor Tom Vilsack’s Chief of Staff, Cynthia Eisenhauer, read a letter from the Governor.
“This past Tuesday, federal officials took action without notice to the state, which impacted families in the Marshalltown community,” it read. “Tonight at my request, officials of state government are here, not to debate the immigration policy of this country, but to offer help and assistance....While it is important to respect the law, we have a tradition in Iowa of building strong communities through compassion and support, and during this challenging time, we will continue that tradition.”

Ta-Yu Yang, a Des Moines immigration attorney and law teacher at Drake University, who met with detainees while they were at Camp Dodge to find out if any were eligible for something called “cancellation or removal.” The clause applies to persons having lived in the United States for 10 years and have immediate family that are either citizens or permanent residents here.Earlier references:
Illegal workers are only given access to this clause if they have been detained for being illegally in the United States.
Many of the detainees are being held at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Ga., about two hours south of Atlanta.
The facility is privately owned, and Ta-Yu said he has been unhappy with the withholding of phone usage and faith leader contact at the facility.
“Some people are comparing this situation to Katrina,” he said. “But I’d compare it to Iraq. The government has no plan on what to do after this.”
“When 9/11 came along, everyone remembered it,” said Isis Diaz, 14, and a freshman. “I think everyone will remember this.”
