My how times have changed.

WWII...we had pinups of Jane Russell for the boys overseas to keep their morale up. We had Tailhook and sexual harassment inspired rules that prohibited anything like it...and now, we have actual members of the Iowa National Guard being dismissed for posing in Playboy...

Playboy-Posing Sergeant Demoted

(AP) An Air Force drill sergeant and former Iowa National Guard member who posed nude for Playboy magazine has been removed from active duty, she and the Air Force said Wednesday.

Michelle Manhart, who appeared in a six-page spread in Playboy's February issue, said she got word Friday that she was removed from "extended active duty" and was also told that she was demoted from staff sergeant to senior airman.

"I'm disappointed in our system," Manhart told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "They went too far with it."

Uh...like I said, honey. It was just a few years ago we slapped some members of the Navy for participating in the kind of thing that your posing inspires. Tailhook inspired only derision and scorn in 1991. So, which is it? Do you want to be sexually harassed or what?

Manhart, a 30-year-old mother of two, said the military's action against her hinged on the fact that she was pictured wearing her uniform.

I can sort of understand how this is a problem when fighting Muslim extremists who don't take too kindly to women showing anything more than their toes in a burka, but...damn...

Manhart...that's pretty funny. Ironic too. Almost makes me want to sign up...

Chaplain Shortage in Iowa and National Guard

February 15, 2007 (AP)--The Army National Guard faces a shortage of chaplains. Officials say some units may have to deploy overseas without a chaplain if recruitment incentives don't work to fill hundred of vacant positions.

In Iowa, ten of 17 chaplain positions are empty.
