Vote Early, Often, Same Day
Maybe I could support this if they would ask me for an ID at least once in my life when I vote. In all the years I've voted, the only identification I've ever provided was to point to my name on a computer printout at my local precinct. I'm serious.
I'll never forget the time in Black Hawk county when I was living in Waterloo - I went down to my polling place and got in line to vote. When it came for my turn, the lady with the list had it conveniently open to the page with my name on it. I put my finger on my name and simply said, "That's me..." and I got a ballot.
It only occurred to me later that I could have - if I wanted to violate the law - gone back again later and done the same thing with a different name. And this was long before Al Gore's sad trek in the 2000 election.
House OKs same-day registration for voters
You can't possibly be informed enough to make a quality decision. No thanks to the media, the 11-days before an election aren't known for having a lot of solid issue discussion. But this is what Democrats rely on...uninformed voters. The more the merrier.
I just might take that gamble and see if I can get away with voting more than once by pointing to my name on a polling place list in another precinct next time around. I'm sure the ACLU would back me up. I'll call it "investigative journalism" just like those dopes trying to sneak knives on planes in order to test security at airports.

House OKs same-day registration for voters
The Iowa House approved a plan Tuesday that would allow Iowans to register to vote the day of an election.Look...if you can't remember or care enough to register to vote at least 11-days before an election, I DON'T WANT YOU VOTING!
Iowa's current law requires voters to register 10 days before primary and general elections and 11 days before other elections. The change would allow people to bring records to their voting location and register just moments before casting their ballot.

House Democrats said same-day voter registration would encourage more people to vote and that, in turn, would strengthen the political process. They based their proposal on a Minnesota law that has been in place more than 30 years.Read that again -

Democrats also turned down a proposal to count ballots from same-day registered voters as "provisional" until they could be checked and verified as legitimate.Really? Then Al Gore did lose in 2000. Thanks.
[Democrats] told House members that "voter fraud is a myth," which fueled opposition from Republicans.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa was among the supporters of the bill. Randall Wilson, the group's legal director, said the issue of voter fraud is quickly fading with technology.Yeah...we'll see about that when/if you Democrats lose the next time around.
Wilson said he expects advancements in computer programs to alleviate worries that voters could cast ballots in multiple precincts. "I think the sun is setting on that concern," he said.
[Rep. Walt Tomenga of Johnston], the lone Republican who voted for bill, said his support didn't mean he was deserting his party. If there's nothing else in Iowa we like to do...it's gambling.
"We have a lot of problems with people not voting in this country," Tomenga said. "After weighing the pros and cons, I decided it was worth the gamble."
