WHEW!

I'm sort of finished with the move to our new house. Remind me to never use the opportunity of Christmas vacation to move...ever again. That's twice in a row for us to be moving over the holiday's and next year I want a tree for crying out loud.

Just got the internet hook-up today, so it'll be a light posting for a couple of days while I clean and get the remaining stuff from the old homestead.

Did I mention I hate moving?

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Gonna take some time off to move...be back after Christmas. In the meantime, go UNI in the National Championship...Senator Harkin might want to withdraw his bet on the game:

Harkin bets Iowa chops on Panther game

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, today predicted a win for the University of Northern Iowa Panthers in today's Division I-AA Championship game against Appalachian State.

Harkin has joined Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., in putting home-state pork chops on the line for the championship game. Harkin believes the Panthers will win their eight straight game, bringing home to Iowa the first NCAA football championship since 1974.

"UNI has a lot of momentum coming into this game with seven straight wins. I predict a 24-21 victory in the national championship for the Panthers," said Harkin. "In fact, I am so confident in the Panthers, I am willing to wager some Iowa pork chops that they come out on top. My friend, Sen. Richard Burr, is prepared to do the same with some North Carolina chops. Just like Iowa's pork chops are the best in the nation, UNI will end up number one and North Carolina a distant second after the dust settles tomorrow evening."

Based on your views of our "winning" in Iraq...here are the reasons I believe he should withdraw his wager:

HARKIN IS BASING HIS DECISION ON HYPED INTELLIGENCE...CHERRY PICKING THE STATISTICS TO PRESENT A REASON FOR ENGAGING IN PRE-EMPTIVE PROGRAMMING ON TELEVISION.

WE SUPPORT THE TEAM, BUT THEY SHOULD REMAIN A HOME IN ORDER TO SUPPORT THEIR GRADES...RISKING THEIR EDUCATIONAL FUTURE ON THIS EXERCISE IS NOT WARRANTED.

U-N-I IS LIKELY TO GO INTO DEFECIT IN PAYING FOR THE BUDGET ITEMS NEEDED IN ORDER TO SEND PLAYERS TO A FOREIGN FIELD FOR A 3-HOUR GAME.

THERE IS NO EMMINENT THREAT FROM APPALACHIAN STATE.

NORTHERN IOWA SHOULDN'T GO IT ALONE...BUT MARSHALL OUR RESOURCES AND DEVELOP A COALITION OF PLAYERS FROM OTHER TEAMS IN IOWA.

IT WILL MOST LIKELY LEAD US INTO A QUAGMIRE IN TENNESSEE...THE TRAFFIC SITUATION INVOLVING MORE THAN 40-THOUSAND OF OUR CITIZENS IS NOT SOMETHING OUR TEAM SHOULD BE ENGAGED IN.

THE FACT THAT SENATOR HARKIN SAYS HE IS SO CONFIDENT IN VICTORY IS MISLEADING THE FANS OF NORTHERN IOWA INTO A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY...AND A DANGEROUS CHANGE IN N-C-A-A POLICY.

WE SUGGEST THAT SENATOR HARKIN TAKE THE POSITION THAT MANY IN HIS PARTY HAVE, AND THAT IS TO WITHDRAW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FROM THE GAME.

WE'RE IN A NO-WIN SITUATION...AND TO SUGGEST WE'RE GOING TO WIN IS JUST PLAIN WRONG.

NO GAME FOR PORK.
